 REBEL8

REBEL8 is a direct-to-consumer, streetwear brand heavily rooted in skate and graffiti culture. With a punk DIY attitude, many of the team’s designs are interpretations of historical or vintage imagery.

For this series of products, “Root of All Evil,” I used the ubiquitous pyramid symbol from the U.S. dollar with reimagined phrases, including “In us we trust” and “Radix malorum est cupiditas” (greed is the root of evil).

I conceptualized and outlined the graphic, and our illustrator Mike Giant gave the design a final pass to display his signature style. The “Root of All Evil” series ended up becoming the main graphic for the season—placed on shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, hats, and more—and sold out quickly.

All work with REBEL8 was done under the guidance of creative directors nate hooper and sarah noel.
